GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The Grand Junction Police Department confirms that the single-car rollover on 27 1/2 Road was fatal. The man driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no other people in the car and no other vehicles involved.
27 1/2 Road is now open after the GJPD finished their on-scene portion of the investigation.
According to GJPD officials the man was driving a SUV southbound on 27 1/2 Road and hit a curb, served to the other side of the road and hit some trees, causing the SUV to roll onto its side.
The Mesa County Coroner's Office has taken possession of the man's body and will determine the cause and manner of his death.
At approximately 7:04 a.m. authorities responded to reports of a single-car crash at 27 1/2 Road and Ridge Drive.
Authorities closed northbound and southbound 27 1/2 Road between Cortland Court and Ridge Drive at around 7:15 a.m. to use a laser mapping system to help determine the sequence of events leading up to the crash. 27 1/2 Road was re-opened around 10:30 a.m.
