GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Snowmobilers are being ticketed for using U.S. Forest land on the Flat Tops before the official changeover date between summer and winter use.
A new rule states that snow machines are not allowed in certain areas of the White River National Forest until Nov. 23. The rules were included in the recently approved new forest travel management plan.
According to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent (http://tinyurl.com/lbzxu7d), the rules were adopted to protect vegetation and visitors.
Federal recreation spokeswoman Kyle Grambley said she did not have any details on the tickets that have been issued.
