My employer only closes two days a year and I am so grateful for that. I have to laugh at all the oriental restaurants open, reminds me of A Christmas Story...Boughs of har-ry, FA RA RA RA RA RA RA...

What about all the people who don't have holidays off? Police, firemen, doctors, nurses...and even the people who bring us our news?

It's really too bad that so many people need to work Christmas. My brother is in the Army and in Afghanistan this Christmas. But there is a difference between doctors and nurses keeping people alive and a waitress. I am so grateful that the police, fire stations and hospitals are all up and running today. But a restaurant is different. Just my opinion.

Maybe they just know that some people like to take their families out for Christmas, breakfast or whatever - and what about people whose family member is in the hospital or rest home?

Bunch of greedy owners, who do not care one bit about their employes, just their bottom line.

Hey Bud, what's your problem? They are not slaves.....if they don't want to work, they can go somewhere else. And if they have enough senority, they can take the day off. That's how this thing works in America.

Bunch of greedy owners? Maybe, the owners know who pays their bills...the customers. Everybody knows some businesses stay open on holidays...if you are working one and don't like working Christmas, you can always quit, IF you think having that one day off is that important to you. Just so some realize...there are many other occupations other than police, firemen, hospitals, some restaurants, etc. that require employees to work on Christmas and those in the service industry who have to work are appreciated by ALL the other workers in other industries who also have to work. In my experience, Christmas eve and Christmas morning are the important times...by 3pm Christmas day people are dying to get out of the house and spend that Christmas money.
