Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) - It wasn't your average day at school for students at New Emerson Elementary. Students got to dress up as their favorite storybook characters.

The gym was turned into a Halloween-themed obstacle course, while outside, kids played pumpkin bowling, musical chairs and pin a wart on a witch.

Parents came out to volunteer at each of the stations. Organizers say the event has become a tradition at New Emerson Elementary, and the young students look forward to it all year long.
