Conejos, Colo. -- A substitute teacher at two schools has been charged with sexual assault on a 17-year-old in Antonito.

Conejos County Sheriff’s Office reports 30-year-old Cara Leann Holman was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the Antonito Medical Center Clinic parking lot. She is held without incident and is currently held to $20,000 bond.

Holman has been charged with sexual assault on a child by a position of trust, criminal attempt to commit contributing to the delinquency of a minor and solicitation to commit tampering with physical evidence.

Authorities received a report from the Centauri principal saying Holman had been sending inappropriate text messages to a male student. Deputy Matt Hinkley was assigned the case and learned Holman also had been spotted going to the student’s job and leaving with him during his lunch hour.

The investigation revealed that Holman and the 17-year-old male engaged in sexual relations. A search warrant that was executed on Holman’s cell phone revealed there were numerous inappropriate text messages sent to the student’s cell phone.
