Super Bowl Shuffle to benefit REC

Grand Junction, Colo. -- The second annual Super Bowl Shuffle 5K to benefit Riverside Educational Center is scheduled for today at noon.

"Get everybody outside and exercising before having a great time watching the football game," said Mary Gonzales, of the Riverside Educational Center.

The race will both start and finish at the Old Historic Riverside School located at 552 West Main Street. The 5K offers an opportunity for families to exercise together before watching the big game. Runners and walkers are welcome!

Prizes will be given to the first, second and third place runners in age categories as well as for overall male and female runners.

Colorado Mesa University football players will be course marshals for the event and will be cheering the participants on.

More than 100 people were signed up to race.

Riverside Educational Center is an after school tutoring and enrichment program for 120 students at all grade levels.

The program is looking for volunteers to tutor kindergarten through 5th grade one night a week from 4 to 5 p.m. No experience is necessary.
