Suspect shot during traffic stop released from hospital

MONTROSE COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) -- The man involved in a traffic stop that escalated to a shooting early this month now faces charges in the incident.

On Feb. 7, Tryllen Richards, 32, received a gunshot wound during a traffic stop by Montrose County Sheriff's deputies on Highway 145 in west Montrose County. Officials have not released who shot him.

After the incident, Richards was taken to a Grand Junction hospital for non-life threatening injuries. He was released Saturday, Feb. 16 and taken to the Montrose County Jail.

Since then, he has posted bail and has left the jail. He will face charges of first-degree assault, felony menacing and speeding.

Officials say no further information is available, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the 7th Judicial District Court Team will continue to investigate the incident.
