Teachers head back to the classrooms

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Monday was the first day back in the classroom for District 51 teachers, and many are excited for the start of the new school year.r.

In less than a week the nearly 21,000 students in District 51 will be filling the hallways of their schools for the first day of the 2014 -2015 school year.

This week it's all about the educators as they prep their classrooms for the incoming students.

Science and Social Studies teacher Sarah Bradburn said she is so glad to be back and is ready get her classroom all ready for her 7th grade students.

"Today we already met with my core team and we've set out pretty much first day of school, first week of school and into the second week," said Bradburn.

For the rest of the week the teachers will attend several district workshops where they will learn the new grading and disciplinary policy as well as learn different ways to help kids retain the information they are learning.
