Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – The Dream Act is a key part of the U.S. Senate's comprehensive immigration reform bill. As a way to gather support, organizers around the country have set up various screenings of the documentary "The Dream is Now."
A screening was shown at the KAFM radio center. The word "dreamers" is used to describe hardworking young people who were brought to the U.S. through no fault of their own and want to be part of this country.
"Dreamers really encapsulate for us the definition of the American dream. These are young kids they are bright and energetic. They want to participate in their community and they just really want to be part of a bright future for America," says Nicole Bernal Ruiz, program director for the Hispanic Affairs Project.
On Monday, members of the Hispanic Affairs Project will be meeting with members from Congressmen Scott Tipton's office.
