Flu symptoms different this year than in years past

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Flu season is upon us... But doctors say if you're feeling poorly you might not actually have the flu as other bugs are going around.

While antivirals may help you feel better in the first couple of days, it might not make sense to head into the doctor's office just yet.

Officials say knowing what your symptoms are and their severity is the best way to tell whether or not you should go in for a check up.

Flu symptoms come on quickly and some signs you might have the flu include:
- high fever
- severe aches and pains in the joints and muscles and around the eyes
- generalized weakness
- warm, flushed skin and red, watery eyes
- headache
- dry cough
- sore throat and/or runny nose.
