MOAB, Utah (KKCO)-- The Moab Police Department, Grand County Sheriff’s Office, and Grand County School District received information of a rumor of a possible gun being brought to the middle and high schools Friday.
At the present time, the rumors are unfounded and through late night and early morning investigations, proper actions were taken to ensure student's safety.
KKCO 11 News talked to school superintendent Dr. Scott Crane, who said the threats against Grand County Schools Middle School and Grand County High School were investigated and found to be untrue.
The schools took proper procedures to ensure students were safe. Crane told us the schools were working with the sheriff’s office and police to have extra officers present at the schools.
An investigation into who started the rumor is still ongoing through the local law enforcement. It’s not clear if the threat was verbal or how police and school administration learned of the false report.
