GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Today the Museum of Western Colorado hosted fourth and fifth graders who got a shot at constructing miniature airplanes made entirely of toothpicks, glue and paper.
Rob Elliot is the author of three books based on the concept "Toothpick Airforce." Elliot invented the miniature planes when he was just 12 years old.
Kids made replicas of the Sopwith Camel Plane and other famous military aircraft.
"Neighbor kids asked how they were done. I shared with them, and then I wrote a book, and I wrote another book, and I actually participated in the Centennial of Flight Celebration with NASA," said Elliot.
The planes are scale replicas and do fly.
