Tourists Getting into Trouble at National Parks

By  |

Don't try to venture onto any national parks during the government shutdown, because you will definitely get into trouble.

Some tourists at Yellowstone National Park are complaining about their treatment by National Park Service Rangers when the park was closed down last week because of the partial federal shutdown.

One tour guide operator went so far as to say rangers used "gestapo tactics" in the treatment of his tour group.

And in Nevada, a couple of hikers were fined for being inside Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas.

A park ranger fined each of them $275 and wrote on the tickets that the two women were creating a nuisance in a closed area.

The hikers didn't know the park was closed because of the government shutdown.

Here in Colorado - the National Monument, Black Canyons, and Rocky Mountain National Park are all closed.
