DENVER (AP) -- A man charged in the hit-and-run death of an 11-year-old boy in Denver is scheduled to go to trial Aug. 11.
The Denver Post reports 21-year-old Oswaldo Lopez pleaded not guilty Thursday to one count of vehicular homicide and one count of leaving the scene of a fatal accident in the Feb. 16 death of Michael "Mikey" Espinoza.
Prosecutors say Lopez, of Aurora, was racing when he hit Espinoza as he was walking across Federal Boulevard. Police say the man's license plate and pieces of his car were found on the street where the fifth-grader was hit.
