DE BEQUE, Colo. US 6 has been re-opened at mile marker 44 in Palisade. It had allegedly been closed earlier on Wednesday due to a hazmat spill in De Beque.

According to Tracy Truelove with the Colorado Department of Transportation, 30 gallons of a hazardous material was spilled in the De Beque Park and Ride. Truelove says her crew at the scene has confirmed that it is an acid spill, however no significant damage or further delays are expected.

The trucking company that was transporting the acid has been notified and are en route to the Park and Ride, as well as an environmental protection group that CDOT works with in these situations.
