GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Police reveal new details about a shooting and fight that left four people in the hospital Saturday.

According to a heavily redacted arrest warrant, the incident started around 11 a.m. when an unnamed woman and man went to pick up the woman's son at 476 Glen Road.

As the man honked and yelled for the child, Sean Dibble and Frank Rodriguez, who were in the house, came outside to calm the man down, holding his door shut so he couldn't get out, according to Sean's interview with police.

The man pulled away and threatened to return.

About ten minutes later, the man came back with two others: Michael Joseph Renteria, Jr. and an unnamed third man. Renteria, Jr. was carrying a silver, semi-automatic handgun, Sean said.

Sean, Rodriguez, Scott Stallings and Erica Dibble went to the front door as the three men yelled for them to bring out the child. Sean said when they tried to calm them down, a fight started.

Some people were hit with baseball bats, and Renteria, Jr. fired at least two shots at Rodriguez, hitting him in the leg, according to the affidavit. The three men then fled.

When officers arrived, Rodriguez, Stallings, Erica and Sean were all taken to the hospital. Rodriguez was treated for a gunshot wound, and the others suffered from baseball bat injuries.

Later that day, Renteria, Jr. was arrested near the shopping center at 2650 North Avenue. He is now being held at the Mesa County Jail on a $100,000 cash-surety bond. He faces charges of attempted first degree murder, first and second degree assault, felony menacing and reckless endangerment.
