GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Hundreds of wine connoisseurs are putting their taste buds to the test, all in an effort to help local non-profits around the Valley.

The Junior Service League hosted 500 people at its annual Viva el Vino event at the Two Rivers Convention Center this evening.

Funds from ticket sales and the silent auction are given back to the community through different grants every year, an the organization has made a big difference for various groups through the event.

"Some of the organizations we've given to are CASA, Western Slope Center for Children, we've given to the Riverfront Trails, a lot of organizations that give to women and children," Junior Service League spokesperson Peggy Wilson said.

There was also plenty of beer and food to go around.

The group also had $1,500 worth of merchandise to give in its silent auction.
