Grand Junction, Colo (KKCO) UPDATE: School is scheduled to continue as normal today, September 6th. Make sure your kids are in school if they're supposed to be!
Students at Central High School have been sent home early for the day because of a waterline break.
The district has this message posted on their website:
"Due to an underground water break on school property, Central High School will dismiss students early, beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 5. The water break is of such a magnitude that the main water had to be shut off to the school, causing a decrease to lunch services and no bathroom facilities. Students will be released per their normal routine, beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m. Students who walk or drive themselves home will be allowed to do so, parents are welcome to pick students up, and students who ride the bus will be transported early on a regular route. District 51 officials are working with Clifton Water and will make every effort to get the school up and running like normal as soon as possible, but a more definitive timeframe is unknown at this point (11:33 a.m.)."
We'll let you know updated information as soon as we get it and are working to find out the plan for class tomorrow.
