Water treatment plant saving money

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) - Grand Junction’s water treatment plant is set to receive an upgrade. At Wednesday's City Council meeting, Council approved a contract with Sunsense Incorporated, out of Carbondale.

The construction and implementation of the new solar system will provide an additional 55 kilowatts of energy to supplement the existing one hundred kilowatt system. With this new source of energy, all energy used at the plant will be made at the plant.

Officials say there will be a $6,500 a year savings in electrical costs. This savings will be passed onto water users.

Sunsense has already installed 4 other solar systems here in Grand Junction, including one at Two Rivers Convention Center.
