GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) --When you think of downtown Grand Junction, Main Street probably comes to mind, but now people may soon associate Colorado Avenue with the downtown scene, thanks to one local business owner's innovative marketing ideas.
When Seth Anderson, the owner of LOKI Outerwear, decided to move his shop from the Redlands to Colorado Avenue, he had more than just his own business in mind.
“My vision for Colorado Avenue is to really key in on the fruit and wine theme that western Colorado and particularly the Grand Valley is marking for and known for,” said Anderson.
Officials say they plan on marketing Colorado Avenue as an extension of Main Street in Downtown Grand Junction, bringing a taste of Palisade to Colorado Avenue.
Anderson says when you drive into downtown on 5th Street, the first thing you see is Colorado Avenue. And he says bringing excitement to the area will not only enhance businesses, but the entire downtown experience.
“It's a major gateway to downtown, and we really want that to be bright and invite people to Colorado Avenue and just bring up downtown as a whole," said Anderson.
Most of the businesses along Colorado near the downtown area are on board for the changes, and the owner of Roasted says he's looking forward to it.
“Downtown Grand Junction is so much bigger than Main Street, a lot of businesses are doing really well, and I think it's a great opportunity to showcase them," said Alex MacKay, owner of Roasted.
Currently, LOKI Outerwear is under construction, but that isn't stopping Anderson from moving forward with his ideas for Colorado Avenue.
Anderson grew up in the valley and founded LOKI, known for its outerwear with a built-in face shield and mitts.
You can expect to see the revamp of Colorado Avenue as soon as this summer.
