COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- A 38-year-old woman is facing kidnapping charges after a 2-year-old Colorado Springs girl was reported missing and later found safe.
Colorado Springs police spokesman Barbara Miller said Thursday police had Tonia Shetina in custody after a tip led investigators to a home in nearby Fountain, where 2-year-old Essence Lovato was found safe.
The infant had been missing for a day and a half. She was last seen with Shetina, who had permission to take the girl to her grandfather's house. The girl never showed up and police issued a statewide alert.
