EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) –- A woman dies when the vehicle she was in rolls over on Interstate 70.

The accident happened Wednesday morning around 10:05 a.m. According to Colorado State Patrol, a driver and two passengers were driving in a Chevy Avalanche truck in Eagle County when the driver lost control near mile marker 152 and drove off the right side of the road.

The Avalanche flipped one and a half times, stopping upside down.

The two men inside—the driver and the passenger—were taken to Vail Valley Medical Center with moderate to serious injuries. Both are expected to survive.

The woman, who was sitting in the back seat, was fatally injured and pronounced dead on the scene.

The cause of the rollover is still under investigation, but alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors. CSP says it appeared that all three people were wearing seat belts.

The right lane of I-70 was shut down for nearly four hours while the scene was investigated.

CSP wants to remind drivers to keep your eyes on the road and avoid distractions while driving with extra holiday traffic.
