DENVER (AP) -- A 28-year-old woman accused of driving drunk and causing a fatal crash in Denver has pleaded guilty to felony charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
The Denver District Attorney's Office says Rebecca Maez entered her pleas Friday and faces up to 36 years in prison when she is sentenced May 23.
Prosecutors say she crashed into another vehicle while driving the wrong way in the HOV lanes north of Park Avenue in the early morning hours of Aug. 31. The crash seriously injured the driver of that vehicle and killed 34-year-old Jennifer Friede, who was a passenger.
