MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) Across the world on Monday people called for decent, affordable housing for everyone, regardless of economic or social condition.
In Colorado, fifty-five houses were started or dedicated to commemorate World Habitat Day.
Here in Mesa County, Habitat for Humanity held a wall-raising ceremony to celebrate.
"We have actually dedicated sixty homes, this will be our sixty-first home here in Mesa County," says Mesa County Habitat for Humanity Programs Coordinator, Stacy Kelley. "This neighborhood that we're in here will have close to sixty homes once it's complete."
During Monday's ceremony, Mesa County Habitat for Humanity also donated a check for $2,500 to The House in Grand Junction.
Money was collected through a spare change drive which ran in September.
