Prepping to send your student back to school

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) --- The first day of school is coming up and preparing your student before the big day will lead to a successful year.

Local business, Learning Works, offers many different options for students trying to get ahead of the class. Math, Science, English and handwriting books are available for students of all ages to practice before they start school.

Another major preparation tip is to adjust bed times to transition back into waking up early. Moving back bed times 15 minutes every third day will slowly help your student adjust and get their recommended eight hours of sleep.

Something for drivers to remember as school approaches, is to watch out for school zone speed limits, which will all be in effect when school starts.

Fines are doubled in school zones and the Grand Junction Police Department will be out in full force to ensure the safety of students.
