GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) It was about more than just fun and games for senior citizens running around the Lincoln Park track Friday.

"Just because you're getting older doesn't mean you can't be physically active and healthy and continue to compete in things you did when you were younger," said Laurie Gregor from Grand Junction Parks and Recreation.

Friday wrapped up Grand Junction's 12th Annual Senior Games. 45 people participated in track races, whether running in the 50 meter dash or walking in a longer race.

"It’s one of those events where people can come and have fun," Gregor said. "It’s not single-handedly about the competition like a lot of other state and national competitions are, so it’s a lot more relaxed."

230 people participated in the week's events, up 100 in attendance from last year.
