HS FOOTBALL: GJ and Hotchkiss grab 2nd seed in playoffs

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Grand Junction Tigers settled for No. 2 seed in the 5A playoffs while the Hotchkiss Bulldogs also received the No. 2 spot in the 1A playoffs.

GJHS (9-0) finished the season at No. 1 in the 5A, but because of wildcard points, the Columbine Rebels (9-0) will have the No. 1 seed. Junction will play No. 31 Chatfield (3-6) in the first round at home on Nov. 5.

Hotchkiss (9-0) will have a No. 2 seed in the 1A with Burlington taking the top spot. Hotchkiss finished the regular season as the No. 2 team in the 1A. They will host No. 15 Sargent on Nov. 5.

    explain to me how you finish undefested, No. 1 in 5a, and get the 2nd seed?! Do they use the same system as the BcS?

      because another undefeated team had a harder schedule.... and therefore deserve to be ranked no. 1......
