GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Hotckiss Bulldogs destroyed the Lutheran Lions 47-8 in the first round of the 1A playoffs.
For the third straight season, the Bulldogs hosted and won a first round playoff game. Gage Grimmett was the first half star. He had one touchdown, an interception, and a 27-yard reception that set up a touchdown. Jaime Rodriguez also scored two touchdowns in the first half, and Ryan Spor got the scoring started with a QB sneak.
The real test will be next week at No. 7 Lyons. Hotchkiss is the No. 2 seed, but because of 1A football rules, the Bulldogs will have to travel to Lyons. Hotchkiss has not won a second round game in the last two years.
