Toddler tips the scales at 44 lbs.

Yiyang City, China (NBC) - A ten-month-old Chinese baby weighs just as much as a normal 6-year-old.

When he was born, Xiao Lei weighed around 7 pounds, 11 ounces. That's just above the average weight of a newborn baby.

But thanks to a strong appetite, Xiao Lei started ballooning one month later and is now double the size of many babies at a similar age.

The toddler now weighs in at a whopping 44 pounds.

Xiao Lei is currently being treated at a children's hospital, where he is undergoing a series of medical tests to see if there's a reason he's gaining so much weight.
