COPIAPO, Chile (AP) - Chile's Health Minister says one of the 33 trapped miners will have a good career in medicine after he's rescued.

Jonny Berrios is a paramedic and is checking out the others. He's taken blood and urine samples, with help from people at the surface. Medication sent down an emergency hole has helped a miner who's diabetic and those suffering from a skin irritation.

Thanks to Berrios, the country's health minister says officials know the men have each lost more than 20 pounds and are dehydrated.

Officials say one of the emergency holes will now send down nothing but water since the industrial water and groundwater the men have survived on since the Aug. 5 collapse isn't drinkable. Smokers are getting nicotine gum.

The miners will get more food by early next week and a permanent phone line so they can talk with their families. Work will also begin next week on an escape tunnel, but completing that tunnel could take months.
