Jordan's King Abdullah Pays Call on President Bush

Washington (AP) Two days of Mideast diplomacy at the White House have begun with President Bush meeting with Jordan's King Abdullah.

It was a quick session. The King arrived and left within an hour.

He told President Bush that stalled negotiations between Palestinians and Israeis should be based on “clear grounds and fixed timetables.” The United States is pushing for a Mideast peace agreement by January.

Later, Abdullah met with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, who will meet with Bush tomorrow.

The Palestinians and Israelis remain far apart o peace negotiations. His spokesman says abbas wants U.S. help to move things forward.
