London (AP) Amy Winehouse's husband has been sentenced to more than two years in jail for assault and obstructing justice.

Blake Fielder-Civil has admitted beating up a pub manager in a 2006 barroom brawl and then offering him $400,000 to keep quiet about it.

A British judge called Fielder-Civil's actions “cowardly and disgraceful.”

Winehouse, who has regaled her concert audiences with appeals for the release of the man she calls “My Blake,” was not in the london courtroom today.

Fielder-Civil has spent almost nine months in jail since his arrest. He could be freed in December, once he's completed half his sentence.
