Finns find mummified corpse in smoke stack

HELSINKI (AP) - Finnish police say they are investigating the mummified corpse of a man found in a smoke stack and believed to have died nearly 20 years ago.

Detective Chief Inspector Juha Juurinen says a preliminary probe revealed it was the body of a 56-year-old man who went missing in 1991.

Builders found the body on Sunday when they were demolishing a disused smoke stack at an industrial site in Vantaa near the capital, Helsinki.

Juurinen said Monday the man likely fell or was pushed into the chimney.

No other details were available pending an investigation.
