JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - Officials at the U.S. Geological Survey say there's no threat of tsunami following a powerful earthquake that struck waters off eastern Indonesia today.

So far, there are no reports of injuries or damage from what the agency now says was a quake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3.

The tremor was centered off Sulawesi Island, around 26 miles beneath the ocean floor.

Some buildings shook in Manado, which is 100 miles east of the epicenter.

Indonesia straddles a series of fault lines that make it prone to volcanic and seismic activity. A giant quake off the country in 2004 triggered the Indian Ocean Tsunami that killed 230,000 people.
