DOLNI DOBREJOV, Czech Republic (AP) – An Army transport plane has taken off from a military airport in the Czech capital to take four rare wild horses to Mongolia as part of the Prague Zoo’s efforts to reintroduce the endangered Przewalski Horse to its native habitat.
The three mares and a stallion will be taken on a 3,700 flight. They will continue another 175 miles on two trucks to the western Mongolian reserve of Khomiin Tal.
The Przewalski Horse became extinct in the wild by the early 1970s.
