NEW YORK (AP) – A New York Police Department Detective has arrived in Russia to gather information about a suicide bombing that killed 35 people at a Moscow airport.
The NYPD says the officer arrived in Moscow on Tuesday and it's unclear how long he'll stay.
The officer will learn about the bombing and gather information to help New York guard against a similar attack. He has been to Moscow previously to learn about a subway station bombing.
The detective is normally assigned to Tel Aviv as part of a program in which NYPD officers are stationed around the world to help learn from overseas attacks.
Monday's explosion at the international terminal at Moscow's largest airport wounded 180 people. Authorities have in part blamed lax security.
