KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - NATO and Afghan officials say joint operations in Eastern Afghanistan have killed at least 13 insurgents.

Paktika Provincial Spokesman Mokhlis Afghan says 12 insurgents were killed in Urgun District overnight and another four were killed in a raid in Mata Khan District on Tuesday. There were no casualties among Afghan or NATO forces.

NATO has confirmed the strikes in a statement, but said it could only confirm nine dead insurgents in Urgun along with the four killed in Mata Khan.
