GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - For the 52nd time in Junior College baseball history a World Series champion was crowned.

The Howard Hawks finisehd the 2009 season with a 63-1 record after defeating the Santa Fe Saints in 10 innings 7-4 in the JUCO championship game on Friday night.

The game was tied after four innings at three runs a piece and remained that way until the ninth inning. In the top of the ninth Howard's Andrew Collazo recorded his first hit of the game with a solo homerun to give Howard the 4-3 lead.

In the bottom half of the inning Santa Fe's Keon Broxton stepped to the plate with a chance to win the game. Two runners were on base when Broxton lined a double into the gap. Jardian Thomas scored to tie the game and Tyler Cook was given the green light at third to go home for the win all the way from first. Cook was thrown out at the plate to extend the game.

Collazo then came through with his second hit of the game in the tenth, a two run single which sealed the Hawks win.
