GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A Grand Junction man is facing charges after police say he stole the keys to an ambulance that was trying to transport someone to the hospital.
According to an arrest affidavit, the Grand Junction Fire Department was called out to a home in the 1800 block of White Avenue Thursday for a medical problem. While medical personnel were inside the house, authorities say Christopher Pingree got inside the running the ambulance, moved it 15 feet and then took the keys and hid them.
Through their investigation police say they learned Pingree had hidden the keys in the gutter of an apartment complex and had been drinking.
The person who needed to be taken to the hospital had to wait 30 to 40 minutes for officers to find the keys.
Pingree is facing several charges including DUI for allegedly moving the ambulance, auto theft and trespassing.
