MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO)- Taviwatch Park in Montrose is closed as officials continue searching the pond there for a 17-year-old boy who is presumed drowned.

According to our partners at the Montrose Daily Press, around midnight the boy fell from a log or possibly tried to swim ashore. Several other boys with him tried to help, two of them were nearly pulled under by the victim.

The boy hasn't been identified pending notification of family.

Officials dredged the pond overnight, this morning they called in the Mesa County dive team.
