Fruita Rec Center Vote Ties

The second recount for a controversial Fruita sales tax proposal ended in a tie, killing the proposal.

Fruita city officials had to recount the ballots for "Referred Issue A" after it passed by just two votes in Tuesday night's municipal election.

This morning the recount had the issue at a tie, and now a second recount is underway.

Referred Issue A would increase the city sales and use tax by one percent.

Supporters are vowing to try to come up with a new plan to get a recreation center.
