New Auction Helps Farmers Bring Home the Bacon Despite Gas Prices

The high gas prices are milking local farmers trying to make a living selling cattle and sheep but a new livestock auction on the Western Slope is making it easier for those farmers to bring home the bacon.

The Western Slope Cattleman's Livestock Auction opened in January. Now farmers who had to drive anywhere from 80 to 300 miles to sell their cattle and sheep can just drive to Loma.

Farmers say this is saving them a lot of money in gas, especially because the price just hit an all time high.

The auction goes all day every Wednesday at 12 1/2 road at the intersection of Highway 6 & 50 in Loma. For more information call (970) 858-9988 or click on the link below to go to the auction website.
