Two people are taken into custody after they allegedly led authorities on a high speed chase down interstate 70 in a semi-truck.
The Garfield County sheriff's office got the call just before 4pm Monday afternoon and was told that a semi–truck was forcing cars off the road along interstate 70. When authorities tried to pull the truck over, the driver sped off.
Both the Garfield County sheriff's office and Colorado State Patrol chased the truck, which was going westbound on i–70 near Silt and Rifle.
Officials say as the truck approached mile marker 50, a state trooper was able to throw down stop sticks, puncturing several tires. They say the truck pulled off at the exit ramp three miles down the road after its right front tire fell off.
The driver, 44 year old Christopher Brostek, was booked into the Garfield County jail.
A female passenger was also arrested and taken to a detox facility. Brostek faces charges of DUI, reckless driving, and felony vehicular eluding.
