The Grand Junction man accused of trying to run over an off–duty police officer had his first court appearance Monday.

22-year-old Corey Marcella was arrested Sunday after police say he threatened and then tried to hit an off–duty Grand Junction Police Officer with his car twice.

Marcella is facing charges of first degree attempted murder, driving under the influence, and first degree assault. Marcella was also on probation for a misdemeanor assault when he was arrested Sunday.

He is being held in the Mesa County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
