Your Electric Bill Could Go Up

Get ready to fork over an extra $10.57 more than last year on your electric bill--that's if Xcel's proposal gets approved.

The energy company is asking the public utilities commission for the hike, it says it's needed because of the rising cost of natural gas.

The company says lower than average temperatures and less natural gas across the country are making prices go up.

If your bill jumps it will be next month, residential customers can expect to pay an extra $2.81 per month, while business customers could see an average increase of $7.19.
