Today's windy weather is forcing officials to hold off on a planned burn near Rifle.
This week the upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit hopes to prepare up to 200 acres for a controlled burn on Coulter Mesa.
Crews will be burning a "black line" to prepare for containing the larger controlled–burn ignited by a helicopter.
At this point officials aren't sure when that burn will take place because of the red flag warnings out across the Western Slope.
