"Freecycle" Program

We all know that recycling helps us keep re–usable items out of landfills...but what about putting re–usable items into the hands of other people who can use them?

A program called “Freecycle” is doing just that right here in Grand Junction.

The program is nationwide, but unites locals in their specific locations.
It works as a free trade-off.

People post what they want to get rid of, and others post what they want to receive.

When a match is made, the involved parties exchange details and a free swap is made.

Signing up for the program is as simple as getting a free yahoo email account, and then joining the yahoo Grand Junction Freecycle group.

Users say it’s a great way to get what you need for free, to get rid of what you don’t want and give it to someone who does, and most of all it’s a way to keep items that are still useful, just not to you, out of our landfills.

For more information on Freecycle, visit www.freecycle.org .
