Instead of the state's new voter registration database,.Mesa County plans to use its own system.

After a two–week test, election officials found several glitches in the state voter registration system.

The problems included difficulties in accessing the system from polling sites and a slowdown when many workers were connected at the same time.

The database was required by federal law.

It was designed to help county election officials determine whether a voter is eligible and to help plan and administer elections. Denver County tried using a similar system in 2006, but an estimated 20,000 voters gave up after waiting in long lines after the system crashed.
