GJ Ranks 34 out 345 in Economic Prosperity

A new report released shows that Grand Junction has a strong economy in some area's, but is lacking in others.

The 2008 Aelera Economic Prosperity Index ranks Grand Junction 34th out of 345 metropolitan area's for having a good economy. The report highlights Grand Junction's strong performance in employment growth, output growth, wage growth, and unemployment rates. But its lack of 'Young Knowledge Workers', those people age 25 to 35 with a bachelor’s degree or higher is the economy’s downfall.

Ann Driggers of Grand Junction’s Economic Partnership says that she sees this as an opportunity for the city to grow industries in the knowledge economy that will make our economy stronger.
