Thursday night Grand Valley residents held a vigil for the baby boy whose body was hidden in the closet of his grandparent’s home for over two months.

The vigil was held on the lawn of the old Mesa County Courthouse at 5:15 Thursday night. The ceremony opened with a pray and was followed by a moment of silence, then 100 baby blue balloons were released in memory of the infant.

The baby boy was found dead in a closet on April 29th by his grand parents in their north Grand Junction home.

Police say the baby's mother, Morgan Hite, gave birth to the boy in the bathtub at a neighbor's home, put the child in a plastic bag and hid its body in a tote in a closet.

Police say the boy's body wasn't found until more than two months later.

Hite is facing first degree murder charges. She's currently behind bars in Alaska awaiting extradition.
